KONTAK PERKASA FUTURES – The dollar tumbled Monday to a five-week low against the yen as investors dumped riskier assets including equities and flooded into haven assets, like gold and the Japanese currency.

The U.S. currency slid to ¥106.12 compared with ¥106.97 late Friday in New York; the dollar did trade down to 105.75 yen earlier in Monday’s session. The euro strengthened to $1.1283 against its U.S. counterpart compared with $1.1254 late Friday in New York.

The ICE U.S. Dollar index, a measure of the buck’s strength against a basket of six rival currencies, was down 0.2% at 94.4190.
